马华的高调问政，推行以来失去的比得到的更多。其中原因，可以归于以下两点：
第一，之前提到过的没有议题主导权或说议题选择权。
议题主导权或是议题选择权，简单来讲就是“话事权”。马华高调问政若是没有任何的主导权，就只是看巫统的脸色来高调的回应（也就问政）受到人民关注的课题，这只会加深人民认为马华只是巫统附庸的事实，因此不管多高调最终也是于事无补，反而更会让马华进一步失去支持，越高调，失去的支持就越多。
举一些例子来说明此种境况。
例子一：赵明福事件。此案下判为悬案之后，社会广大要求真相的人民都要求政府马上成立皇家委员会来彻查真相。高调问政的马华总会长在第一时间说会在一星期后的中委会内讨论此课题，可是首相却在第二天就宣布成立皇委会，此时的马华才悻悻然地“欢迎”皇委会的成立（突然不需要中委会核准了），并“声称”马华一向来都支持成立皇委会。
例子二：丁能补选的复办昔华独中事件。对于昔加末华团诉求政府兑现25年前的承诺，复办独中。马华第一时间回应此课题说“华社在丁能补选提出复办独中是在为难马华”。可是当副首相慕尤丁说可以支持并先复办分校之后，马华又改口说“华社的意愿是马华的议程，华社的需求是马华的需求”。
